Classical Metal

I love classical music.
Don't listen to it much but some can be quite heavy.
And when it's rocked, so much better.

It all started in 1969 when I was a wee lad in 4th grade.
We had an oddball homeroom teacher that loved "Switched On Bach".

He also played it endlessly.
This was about the same time (69 - 70) that I discovered Deep Purple & Ritchie Blackmore via the bargain bins at record stores.
Something struck a "chord" with me in his playing.
Years later I discovered why, It was his neoclassical style.
A style I never knew existed until years later when it was popularized by Yngwie and the shred movement.
I also started listening to Emerson Lake & Palmer "Pictures at an Exhibition" around this time, that had classical references.

Fast forward to the early 90's when Apocalyptica hit me in a good way.
I was back to browsing bargain bins at record stores, but now they were all CD's and there was this heavy music playing in the background.
It was familiar yet different. It was Metallica being done on cellos. I was hooked.

So I guess I'm a fan of the style.

If you liked Switched-On Bach @Hackmaster you may appreciate this one from 1977 too.
My dad had it in his record collection when I was a kid.
All performed on an ARP synthesiser.

I'm a minute into the video and all I can picture is old Mario Bros....lol

Awesome
