Classic Metal

Wasn’t aware you can do metal on a Strat. Apparently I was wrong.
Well technically I guess it can be done but the rhythm is humbucker by Ruddy Schenker . Same thing in early priest. They contrast nicely but I do get your reference and I don't think Mr. Headache is going to by it. However, the man is Uli Roth in the era of Scorpions when rock/metal was infant. Every damn player on the block wanted to play like Uli.

You might be surprised! Some notable users of real Strats , either full time or at least significantly are:
Yngwie Malmsteen
Fast Eddie Clark of Motorhead
Dave Murray, Janick Gers of Iron Maiden
KK Downing, Glenn Tipton of Judas Priest
Gary Holt of Exodus
Paul Quinn of Saxon
Adam D of Killswitch Engage
Nameless Ghoul of Ghost

When you start expanding to Strat-esque guitars like ESP and Jackson/Charvel you get:
George Lynch of Dokken
Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden
Jake E Lee of Ozzy Osbourne
Kirk Hammett of Metallica

It's a versatile guitar!

Oh yeah. Aware of that. My comment was intended to be somewhat tongue in cheek. When you’re pumping any guitar thru a gazzilion gigawatts, I don’t think at the end of the day it matters single coil or HB….. it’s all loud and it’s all heavy. You could hand Angus a Strat and after some tweaking on EQ, the majority of people could not tell he wasn’t playing his SG.

Sorry, it was early so pardon my lack of picking up on the sarcasm: flew right over my head when I read that lol

But yeah I totally agree: humbucker, P-90, single coil, it's all kinda irrelevant in the end when you lay out your own signal chain and use your own style. I know I've argued ad nauseum about the "tone in the hands" concept and gotten blow-back for that, but it's hard not to recognize it when you see your favorite guitarist switch axes a bunch of times and effectively still sound the same.

Keith Richards plays every guitar known to mankind and still sounds like Keef. Alex Lifeson can use a Strat on this song and then a 335 on the very next one and its Rush. Hendrix had Strats, Vs and even Jaguars and SGs and never sounded any different

And let's not forget my current favorite, Mick Mars of Motley Cruse.

Although I will say. There’s at least one song Alex does with a Tele. Only reason I know that is, I’ve watched Rush concert video. He’s playing really clean and I could pick out something was different. Saw the video and went ah ha. Tele.

But yeah. Totally clean. No effects. Lower volume. I think most of us could discern single vs HB. There is a difference. But once you start cranking it up. Throw in a few effects… the water starts getting a bit muddy…. So to speak.

Yep, started with a Les Paul, went to ESP Tele designs for a while and then settled on the heavily modded Strat!

Yeah honestly, clean is the only way to really hear the guitar with what it is doing. Though I admittedly prefer the distorted overdrive sound, if you want to see how a guitar really sounds: clean it up. Teles are jangly with that twang sound, Strats have a distinct snap and pop sound, SGs sound bright and thin and Les Pauls sound warm and smooth. But if you toss grit at them, they all take on different life's of their own

Jake E Lee had the coolest tone on the Ultimate Sin ! And that list has some heavy players on it.
