A regular guitar is good enough for me. I like my two SG specials, and my MIM Tele, and my
well modified Epi ES-339. I like my Martin XC1T with the strata bond neck and striped ebony
fretboard and I like my expensive (but not outrageously so) Gibbie J-45 AG.
Hell, I really like my takedown Journey guitar that I published on this site last February
and I like my hand built Warmoth Fretless J-bass. These have all given excellent service
appropriate for my level in the biz.
I don't understand anyone paying so much for something used by a big star, but if the money
goes to charity then that's a good thing. I'd rather keep my savings, and play something
that sounds just as good but doesn't pretend to be more than it is. I actually love the tones
I get from the guitars I have.
My collection is back up to like nine instruments: Four electrics, three acoustics and two
basses. I've probably got about nine thousand five into them right now, including initial price
plus (expensive) mods and excellent cases. Each one is unique and gives a tone all its own
which pleases me in a big way. Each of my instruments is priceless IMHO.

Whenever I see a Gibbie or a Martin with a price tag over three grand, I start thinking what ELSE
I might have for all that money. And then I keep my savings in place and try to enjoy life on my
level, which I have always been able to do.
