Cheap and dirty

I have a couple of nice guitars, a couple of guitars that folks would probably say "oh, nice guitars" then I have a bunch of junk. Purchased cheap and messed with. The only problem is that now I want to buy every Epiphone LP Jr single cut that I find. There are still some decent ones out there for super cheap and after I mess with them a bit, they kind of turn favorites..... Maybe I like junk.

I've modded a pair of cheap Maestro LP Jr.'s.
They both started out as one of these fugly blue-bursts.

Some router work, a nitro paint job, and new electronics later...

Both are good players and sound much better than how they did when I got them.
Had a blast doing all the mods and knew the whole time if I F'd anything up, I could just bin it without taking a gut punch to the wallet.
But do they come close to the real thing?
Nope.

Fitz, it looks like you know how to paint. Nice work. I have these:

Does that tag a member??
That TV Yellow you did something that I have always thought about: adding a black pickup that is in the pickguard. You did it and it works just as well as I expected. It still looks like a junior. That's fantastic.

I am seriously painting impaired. Heavy sigh.

@Dado , yes.
The "Jr." has a stealth mini HB neck pup mounted from the rear.

It's further from the strings than the dog ear bridge pup, so there's a noticeable volume difference.
I don't mind as it's kinda like hitting a boost when switching to just the bridge.

The action on that guitar is mind boggling.

Plays like guitars that cost 10x more.

I have a black Epi Jr that I reprofiled the back of the neck and did some of this and that. I like it so much that I don't have enough fret left to crown. This corresponds to me playing punk-ish music for the last few years. I suspect palm muted stuff at 100 MPH is to blame for the fret wear. I bought another of the Epi Jr to have a spare. Not crazy about that burst but it's not terrible. The Maestro and the First Act came due to my kid wheeling and dealing with other kids at school.

I'm getting good drum recordings with 6 mics

I love Epiphone guitars. I often pick mine up over my Gibby's. There is no shame in that whatsoever, a good guitar is a good guitar. If it plays and sounds good, that's all that matters......

Unless it's a fender, then it sucks! Ha ha !

Let me help you with your gas: this one is super cheap!

Over priced. There is one at a nearby pawnshop that I bet would be out the door for 100 bucks.

But I have too much gear. If the current band gets to gigging maybe I will get another. What I really need is a vertical 2x12 cabinet.

I have 2 of these and they are great.
Just install speaker of choice.
