Changing strings for the next 2 weeks

FYI Seymour Duncan has a new Alt metal blackout set that I suspect is very similar to the EMTY pickups that have gone extinct ( due to a signature endorsement deal that has expired)

I am super excited to try a set when I get funds.

I've decided that I don't like active electronics.

Passive stuff, to me, can be more toothy and aggressive if pick hand technique is applied. Sounds more pissed. Of course, that's not just the pups, it's the pups with everything else in the signal chain and how it's all set

Active stuff always sounds so sterile to me and dynamics always suffer.

That's not to say that they're not great tools in the hands of other players though. Sounded pretty awesome when Hetfield and Hammett started using them. Tons of people use active stuff and sound great. Smoke em if ya got em!

I gotta change strings on my explorer too. Broke my G(A) string on Sunday jammin stuff out. It was worth it though.
