I managed to get some more brick demo done today and then checked in at the guy's ad for the White SG.
He seems to have copped a bit of an attitude by my thoroughness, my questions, and my BS detector. Mind you, the guy came into ETSG with 0 posts and on his first post he places his Ad, that as I pointed out, was the wrong year guitar. Needless to say, I can be pretty calm and patient and understanding, BUT one thing I will not tolerate is getting an atittude, trying to sell possible bogus goods, and then acting as if nothing should be questioned.
Do any of you guys, especially ETSG members mind returning to the thread to see his most recent replies to me, and to Expand the text in the last one, then either reply as you so choose over there, or even hit me up here again. Something about me wants to offer the guy like $300 and say OK, I will buy it for that, or else I am free to keep expressing my concerns and expecting him to answer the questions inquiring minds want to know,
Also, here is my draft of a reply I want to post.
Here is a draft on how I wanted to reply to his last message. Tell me what you think after reading through how the thread has gone and his attitude...
"Thanks Rob.
Obviously the Toy car is not as easy to see on a computer screen or cell phone, so excuse me on that. As for my imagination. Let's just chalk it up to ALL of those scenarios, I have experienced. So, no imagination needed. Add a guitar with no serial number on it, and it should be obvious to ask as many or as few questions as needed to ascertain whether to buy something or look elsewhere.
So, if I am interested or not. That is and was to be determined based on the actual details of this particular guitar. If certain criteria were met, which obviously were not when you initially listed it as being a 1988 which now you state it is a 1998, I might have gladly pursued traveling from Md to North NJ or had one of my friends in NJ check it out. But, since that would involve 8-10 hours of round trip travel, it is prudent to ask questions here to weed out any concerns before wasting such a long trip. As we know, I asked. Based on the answers and now your demeanor, it pretty much points me how to proceed. Prior to your last few replies, I may have decided to come get it or pass your info on to others and try to hook you up if I decided against it. I really do know some really good guys who are also in the market for a white SG.
Regrettably, without a serial number, and myself as being viewed as hostile by simply discussing significant details about this guitar, makes it a real crap shoot.
I guess you basically chose the way this process has gone with me and other potential buyers by making me seem as if I am unreasonable to inquire about the history, condition, actual age, original or modified equipment, serial, and any other details you left for us to inquire about. "
