I’m just saying some of the past(2000s to early teens era) Gibson Flying V guitars came with a 496r/500t chrome covered set. Since I got my V as a husk, I didn’t get to see the original conductor wiring...mine wouldn’t have been covered anyway. The standards were the ones with that set under chrome covers.(now they’re using burst buckers in the 2018s) Gibson stock pickups are often two conductor, even though their aftermarket versions are four conductor(saves money probably)
Noted in this chart for example:

That reverb listing doesn’t specify where the set came from....but advertises them as a 498r/500t set. Could be 490/498 for all I know.
Edit:the dc readings in the linked Reverb set for sale fall in to the range of a 496r/500t set of stock Gibson pickups.
Output spec, and actual metered DC resistance may differ. I’ve read that the 500t has a window of between ~14-15k~ when metered as pictured. Best of luck.I got them...
The output is a little above Gibson.com's published spec of 11.4kΩ

You’re welcome.
I’m SHOCKED!!!
We’ll see how you like them, I’m sure.
I’m also sure it’ll be magical.
Or not.
Whatever.
Best of luck.
I put a set of 500T/496R in my SG faded. They came from a V. Another CL purchase for $100. They do have the vintage style 2 conductor push back wire. No covers. You got a deal, Robert. You will like them. Never heard of a 498R though. The ad poster might have mistaken the 6 for an 8.
1 meg volume pots will make them scream. On about 8-8.5 they will sound the about same as the 500k pots, but you'll have a little extra in the tank if needed.
I had mid-90's Les Pauls that had the same logo on the pickups. Not sure that means anything though.
Great pickup set...extremely versatile and you can ignore the resistance spec - the 500 has tons of output to drive the amp but doesn't sound like a hot pickup, if you know what I mean.
Yes to the 496r by the looks.(it was at least removed and replaced)Hmmm...do you think the covers have been added?

No(probably not) to the 500t. The solder job looks factory neat anyway...and the covered 500t was the one you were after.
Run with it. They were cheap enough, weren’t they?
