This speaker came in the 40CR and when I bought it was a returned freight damaged amplifier. It was pretty bad . I have a thread in here somewhere with pictures.

So I had been thinking the speaker might be damaged because it doesn’t sound very good to my ears.
So am doing a swap for a WGS Green Beret
So far it’s much better.

Fairly sure the original stock speaker in the 40C was a Seventy-80, so that G12 Vintage was probably a replacement prior to the damage.
I remember some of those damaged amp pics.
A blow like that could have messed up the speaker as well.

I have a pair of those that I think are great speakers, but I have no experience with them in an open back DSL40C.
They are the first version of what would become the Vintage 30.

That one was a special edition in white, not sure but I think it’s stock.
 
If i run a v30 with my Marshall's. Have to pair it with a t75. Have china set in 2x12 & UK first year run pair in another cab. In my post JCM 800 Marshall era of amps, its only speakers i use. My context is for live band & recorded, not sitting in front of a V30 playing it on its own. It is a laser bead, but the most reliable modern speaker tone to record with in my experience. Y

The V30 is so good at what it does , it better annoy you on its own, it is doing its intended job,that is THE stand out part EQ that just places your guitar in a mix exactly where it belongs,

I did research and you are correct.

That makes sense but I only have a small room mostly 1 x 12 cabinets.
I wonder if it work to record by itself in an isolated closet ?
I might end up trying it in the future.

That was my error, it’s a CR. I just messed up when I started the whole thread. I haven’t had a 40c in a very long time. The 70/80 was the first thing to go.
