This speaker arrived on Monday:

And a couple of days later (today) the other one arrived:

Due to the effects of COVID-19 on imports to Australia I had to buy these separately from different stores. They were literally the last ones they had in stock.

They are going into my Peavey 430A cabinet to replace two of the Vintage 30 speakers that I previously installed, in an X-pattern.

I'll update this thread as it happens! You can see my previous thread on this cab here: NCD: Peavey 430A 412 cabinet

I've been using a little test rig to work out which of the four Vintage 30 speakers I like best. I think I will go with the two on the left (looking from the front). I'll replace the top right with a Creamback and move the bottom left to the bottom right, and put the other Creamback in the bottom left.

I took the red and black wires and clips off of the original harness:

Then I soldered the wires to an old mono jack I had laying around:

I hooked it up to each speaker in turn, put four screws into the back panel to keep it closed tight, and fed the jack through the jack plate as per normal:

I put an orange tape on each speaker as I filmed the tests (to compare later) and used my mate Bert's Orange Micro Terror to power the speakers:

I've been working hard this afternoon, besides all the stuff with the Schecter I also got the 412 back together so that it will be ready for band practice on Saturday.

G12 Vintage 30 & G12 H75 Creamback x-pattern is complete! New wiring installed, same design as before but fresh wire and nicer job with the jack install.

First of all I had to lift the cabinet onto my work bench

Here's the finished wiring

Then I had to lift it back down off the bench and put it on its furniture dolly, ready to ba taken to band practice this weekend
