Carpeted bass amps????

I have noticed that the majority of carpeted/felted amps are bass amps.
Is there a reason for this (that I cannot fathom)?
The last bass amp I had was a Line 6 Lowdown 110, which had the felt covering.
The one I am after now is a Fender Rumble V2 25W which is again felted.
The Rumble V1 & V3 are Tolex.
I can't think of any carpeted guitar amps.
I don't get it.
If you have a cat, dog or tame goat, forget a carpeted bass amp. It will turn into a hairball!!
Why felt????????

Rant over. But someone please explain.

Im guessing its for the rattles and hums.........

perhaps building a better cabinet from real wood not particle board.......would help?

the Hartke is tolex.....the construction is steller and the only thing that rattles is poop off the walls and shelves in the Doom Room

TO BE FAIR --- it rattled like a can of bees the day I got it --- was a Musicians Friend Blow out at 80.00 delivered.

Called and complained..........while on the phone I realized 1 screw was missing from the metal speaker cover...................

they offered to return it and send a call tag.............I said -- hold that thought.........(went and got 5 screws......screwed in the missing spot and added 4 more center top left right and bottom----NO MORE BUZZ/rattle) told the guy
"look its gonna cost ya'll 45.00 to ship it back and then ship me another --- that 90.00 in freight for 80.00 amp----
why dont you just give me a discount and Ill "deal with it""

He knocked of 20.00
and that is how I got a new Hartke B600 for 60.00

I used to have a Rivera M-60 that was covered in that godawful carpet stuff. It was a killer amp but I really hated the covering.

The fender M80 line used to be covered in that fuzz.
One of the jobs we did a couple of years ago on an apartment carport that had burned down.
The manager of the complex gave me a combo version of a M80 bass amp, no speaker, I cut it down on a table saw and glued it back together, and gave it to one of my grandsons friends who played bass, it had the black fuzz on it.
Cheers
