With his Telecaster....this was his main guitar during QR's early days. This was the inspiration for the Von Herndon StageCrafter

Trivia: Quiet Riot was recorded on a borrowed guitar and amp when Carlos's rig took a dump on him...

Sounded like it.

Hate to be a hater but I hated that band. They had an amazing bass player, who went on to bigger and better things, and of course were an early vehicle for Randy Rhoads, but their best material was covering of Slade of all bands. Horrible.

Sorry.

No problem! We are all different.

That's how I feel about Aerosmith. Never could get past 2 or 3 measures of any of their songs. Never have listened to a complete work by them to this day and never will. My "like" has an extremely narrow scope. If I hear something I don't like, I never go back...

Somewhat surprising given your vintage but we like what we like. To me, Aerosmith is the quintessential American hard rock band of the 1970's, the literal soundtrack of my youth. To you, not so much. That's what makes variety so great!

No doubt....like Boston didn't grab me either, although they are a mega talent...For me, the early bands (1970's) who first grabbed me were Scorpions, Triumph, Mountain, Nazareth and the like...I'm 52 now...

Yah, I never liked Boston even a little bit. And don't even get me started on the Eagles (I'm with The Dude on that one). I'll be 52 next month, so we're the same era. I was big into Aerosmith, Judas Priest, Rush, Led Zeppelin, UFO, Nazareth, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company. I liked any and all hard rock but those were probably the most influential.

The '80's were a different thing in a way. The whole stage was set for me the first time I heard Iron Maiden...the moment "Prowler" came out of the speakers the whole early part of the decade was set for me. I really didn't care much for Van Halen or any of the "lighter" rock going on at the time, I was drawn in by the NWOBHM bands and at the same time started getting interested in Punk. I grew up in the D.C. area and the Hard Core scene was breaking big, and a lot of my friends were in those bands so it was a big part of my life for a while.

Definitely dug those too. I grew up on a farm, fairly remote, so we were behind the times for certain.

Funny, I left out the most important band: Black Sabbath

BS did more to inform my musical taste and possibly even world view than any other band.

Wow, I just turned 55 a few days ago, cant believe I'm older than you guys. Never really grew up, hair still reaches almost half way down my back.
Funny the mention of Slade, the other afternoon I was walking home from the supermarket, two blocks away & there's a woman, probably my age doing the gardening in the front yard. Slade's live version of "cum on feel the noize" is BLASTING out, & there's a girl, 12ish, with the garden rake doing the full on mic stand thing, until she saw me & stopped. As I walked past I said "Slade alive" to the girl, & she replied "I love 'em". Just goes to show, music knows know age barriers & people can have wildly different musical tastes. I bet all that girls school friends like rap (shite). Cheers

Ivan. I get you getting your Les Paul Happy Birthday. I just turned 60 on 6/25 I went nuts on new gear and a used Les Paul myself. If my wife would have lived she was born 6/24/58
Now my father in law set me up with his flight attendant Gretchen born 7/1/83 from Oslo Norway just stunning. Son you need a support group. Funny she likes driving my 1999 van.
I tried to give her the Honda Pilot I don't like leather seats OK. See how it goes trying to find common ground.
