That was kind of my concern, too.
It’s a neat novelty and I’m sure it was a load of fun to build. But, I’m unsure of its viability as a gigging instrument.
How will it react to humid weather, sweat, and the normal rigors of use?
But, after giving it a bit more thought, I doubt the packaging company who initiated this had any serious intention of making a long-term gigging instrument. It strikes me more as one of those, "Gee, I wonder if we can do this..." type of things.
They can truly claim to be a packaging company that designed a cardboard substrate strong enough to make a functional electric guitar. There's a big "cool" factor, right there. If anything, that packaging company has some serious marketing material now!

AFAIK this is not just pure cardboard but treated with some unknown somewhat, especially the neck.
