Capo as a clamp (putting a hipshot string tree on)...

I just got done putting a 3 string hipshot string tree on my bass. They are fairly long and aren't as easy to line up as the single screw two string trees. Long story short, I used a spring clip style capo to hold it in place while aligning, center punching, etc. Very easy to use, quick, and worked great. Figured I'd pass it on as a tip for someone else that might be able to put it to use...

Good tip. Does the third string really need a tree? Just looked at my Jazz bass, and it has a two-string tree. That seems to be plenty.

Nice improvisation, Owegi.

Capos can be used for all sorts of things. They're pretty much a standard requirement when stringing a guitar with a Bigsby.

I like having the 3 string string-tree on my bass. Not sure if it's necessarily necessary - lol - but, I like the even angle/pull it provides and it looks nice too. I generally add a second string tree to my tele's too. Just a personal tweak/preference I guess. By the way, the capo idea was my wife's idea. I was fiddling around with a clamp and was like this is a pain and she looked at the three capos I have hanging up and said 'how about using a capo'. Figured why not, sounds good to me, and good it was ;)
