Can you build this???

A question I was asked recently when a certain custom builder was too booked up with backlog to take on this performer's project.

I'm not going to reveal too much at this point, but I have agreed to take the build on personally and privately, with the assistance of a colleague.

The build will be based on a new Dave Murray Stratocaster, but will feature a one-off, large CBS reverse headstock, rosewood board with "neck through" Floyd Rose nut mounting.

The rest of the details are coming together and I will add to this thread as the project develops....

I am presuming this means that the guitar will be a set neck Strat copy with a Floyd and Floyd Nut?

"Neck through" being what I tripped over on my first 3 times reading this. I actually mentally processed it as String thru ( body) not " NECK" thru.

No. Bolt on neck, but the Floyd Rose nut with bolt through the neck...

Here are the neck specs we worked out with the artist today.

Musikraft built neck

Quartersawn rock maple shaft

'C' Profile 9.5" radius

1-11/16" nut width

Large CBS headstock right hand reverse

Dark rosewood fretboard - white MOP face dots (no dots at the 12th)

Luminlay super green 3mm side dots

22 Jumbo Stainless Steel Frets

Dual-acting 4mm headstock accessible truss rod

Notched Floyd Rose nut

My own design, notched string retainer bar.

11, 12 and 13th fret will have a custom inlay by vanwhyinlay

Sounds like a great project Robert! I’m looking forward to watching this unfold.

Neck has been ordered....Inlay will be done once the neck gets dropped ship to Van Why.

So, today we started tearing down the USA Dave Murray Stratocaster which will serve as purpose donor...

We will be painting this Arctic White and overcoats with poly...
