When we were gigging most recently, it was venue dependent. If I had to pick, I’d still have a hard time. I can get by with a 1x12 if I have to, but I like pushing the air around with at least two twelve inch speakers....doesn’t matter if they're in the same box really....depends on the amp I guess.

The last gig we played was an outdoor event....I used a 22watt head in to a 1x12 just to see how it worked out. Got some good reviews for it.

When we were gigging originals in some of the old clubs(1990s-early 2000s) 4x12 was the way it was...50 watts was pretty much the minimum I’d see around.

I like using 10 Watts, uses less power..:D1615594384085.png

I hope those are soft white. My eyes don't like it when they are ice picky.
I would say a pair of 1X 12 cabs, and just use 1 most of the time.
I like EVM speakers, but Celestion sounds good.

Later on in life you will appreciate the smaller lighter cabinets that fit easily into the back seat of your car.
The days of 4X12 cabs and big amps are passing away...the big amps were too loud anyway.

So, you're saying I shouldn't bring my 1987 and two 412s to a coffee shop gig?

Seriously, I'm thinking about getting a pair of Orange 112s and maybe a DSL20HR. My 50 watt 900 does sound really good in half power mode, but it is kind of cumbersome.

I’d play just about any gig I’ve done in the last 15 years with this amp set up, and probably be pretty darned happy. Eighteen watts with a healthy amount of headroom...throw my pedalboard down in front of it, and go to town. It will do(has done) anything from Beatles to Tool for me.
The Orange 1x12 was the cab I used at our last outdoor gig. We were mic’d up though to be fair.

ive used all kinds of cabs.
back in the day i wouldnt use anything but a marshall half stack.
i generally use my vox ac30, but ive played gigs with the ac4. thats right, 4 whole watts. I did one awhile back with a dsl20 and an extra cab.
the last two shows i played i used just a helix through foh. that takes some getting used to and i didnt really like it.
PAs have gotten much better over the years. hopefully the people running them have too, but i have done shows where the house pa guy didnt know his bootay from a hole in the ground, and i had a buddy run him off and do sound.

All I’ve ever played is bars. Usually a combo with a 1x12 is lots. I used a 4x10 combo for a while but it was too heavy. I had an AC15 2x12 for a while but it was also too heavy. Occasionally I’d take an extra 1x12 cab. I played a couple of outdoor shows with a Fender Pro Jr 1x10 mic’d. For the bar gigs never needed a mic. For most bar gigs the Pro Jr was lots on its own. Then I switched to acoustic into a DI then the board. Could fit all my gear in a gig bag.
