More incentive for any other country to begin manufacturing them as far as im concerned. Years ago, the US, UK and Germany made the bulk of vacuum tubes, so why not kickstart it back to the way it used to be?

There was news before the pandemic of a proposed plant here in the US for manufacturing high quality tubes.
Maybe this will provide the impetus it needs to get the project restarted.

Companies like Raytheon would rather make the tools to end all life on this planet, as it is far more profitable. Even though they have tubes and other old electronics in their lobbies, they scrapped the machinery years ago.
Plexi67 posted a link to them a couple of years ago. Maybe he can again. They are very high quality audiophile tubes, and not for the faint of wallet. I remember their website being quite fascinating.
Especially in this country. A while back, someone on Craigslist in Rhode Island was selling machinery from an old RCA plant for making vacuum tubes. I hope someone with the right recourses bought them, and they didn't just get sold for scrap value.

Sad but true! Ironically, it was Texas Instruments who held all of the contracts that Raytheon now owns. They sold their defense shares in the 90s.
More ironic, is that Raytheon built tubes for classic valve amps, while at the same exact time; Texas Instruments were building missile guidance systems and laser missile components. Now, the tables are completely turned and its Raytheon producing said components while Texas Instruments is building computer components and many of the ICs used in solidstate amps.

The machinery has been sold. Those of Telefunken in Ulm to Tesla/Cechoslowakia and then in turn to JJ. And i think the Valvo equipment has found another home as well. A few years ago ther was actually an attempt to recover Mullard, also with parts of the old machinery. But that attempt was unsuccessful.
I think it would be really hard to convince narrow headed bank managers of such a project.

And the cost of manpower to start up and make tubes, which isn't a huge market? Prices would be ridiculous methinks.

Crazy idea: but if amplifier manufacturers are the ones who are primarily the users of vacuum tubes these days, why dont they take over tube manufacturing themselves? Now before you state the obvious, that lots of manufacturers are outsourcing production of the amps themselves as it is already in countries like China, Vietnam and Indonesia and thus the components THEY are using are sourced from places like Russia; there are still manufacturers who build the bulk of their equipment in their native countries such as the UK, Germany and the US.
Because of that fact, is it REALLY that hard to produce a damn piece of glass with some grids inside of it? Not like we're talking about making an IC chip, where there's a lot more involvement in the production, rather something quite simple

The article makes dollars and SENSE to me .... and loads of other people .... anyone else notice that in the last couple years the options in 1-5 watt heads (tube or tube hybrid) and 20 to30 watt or smaller SS amps is getting to be QUITE THE BUYERS BONNANZA --- loads of options many from BIG NAMES like Marshall-Fender --Peavey have been making small ones a while and SS ones out the ying yang but -- Egnater-- H&K ... Friedman -- TONE KING--BOGNER --Blackstar.... Orange... VOX--I mean everyone who is ANYONE in amp ville has a small hybrid or solid state amp head ........ The haters of small will post like flies to poo and argue the point spew hate and call me names even imply people who own chinese and mexican made amps are tone deaf and so on and so on ..... but the markets are contradicting their cries of MORE POWER IS BETTER AND LOUDER IS GOODER .......
