Bye, Bye Gibson.

Heritage also just fired 1/2 their people and about to ramp up from my understanding with the new investor/owner?

Hmmmmmm.... interesting....I don’t know how I feel about that.
There’s a little shop that carries Heritage guitars, not far from me. Nice stuff too. They’ve always been a little steeply priced for me though. They play great. Every one I pick up, and like, in that shop is always $1850.00 when I inquire pricing.

One of the managers at a local music store that recently went out of business told me that at one time Gibson was demanding that 40% of the hooks on the wall had to have Gibsons.

That was a few years back and I don't know if that requirement is still true, but that's what I was told.

That's a lot of $$$$$$

The owner of the shop I buy from was telling me the Chinese are really upping the game in making guitars.

I own 2 Les Pauls...one a 2008 Gibson LP Studio chambered and the other a 2006 Epiphone LP Standard which I believe was made in China. The Epi is one hell of a guitar to play and I would put it up there with a Gibson LP Standard. I replaced the nut on it with a Graphite nut which made quite a difference in tone of the open strings. The nut was actually a bit longer than the width of the fret board by 1 or 2 mm so I carefully filed and sanded smooth both ends of the nut until it was flush with the width of the FB. I noticed also the string spacing was a bit wider compared to the original plastic nut which would bunch up the strings a bit. This wider string spacing made a really great difference in playing especially open chords and has evened out the strings throughout the entire fret board for better playing action. Every time I pick up the guitar to play I find it hard to put down. It is a truly well made guitar for an import. BTW...both guitars are black of course.:)

Wow...there's a whole lot of black right there! Those are beauty guitars. I really dig your Les Paul with the P-90's...makes me drool. I noticed you have control knob pointers. Did you put them on yourself? And also did you polish the body because it looks like it was a faded before. If you did then you've done a real good job Rob.;)

Yes I put the pointers and the new knobs on, they were the ugly cheap roundish black ones Gibson tried using for a second. The body was wiped down with Virtuoso Polish. Not buffed but you can buff it out and add layers for a really slick shine also. But I recommend a coat of this on all Faded guitars. Makes them feel not so dry. It's a 60's Tribute, also had a 70's tribute...they were blowing them out for $600!
No polish........

Nice! A PRS guitar I assume? Don't worry, you'll be G.A.S.ing for more black guitars. Once you go black you'll never go back.(y)

It's a 2013 Mira. Set of Jonesy Blues PAF clones in it.

I've owned lots of black guitars, this is just the only one I still have. I really, really want a black Les Paul though.

I really want the Green one they put out last year I think it was or 2016. I had been saying they should do it as I have oogled over the Green Agile 3100 for a while & they went and did it and I have no funds for that at the moment :(

I really like the style of the control knobs. Slash from G 'n' R had the same exact control knobs on his original Gibson Les Paul which really wasn't a Gibson as most of us know. That sunburst LP is friggin' gorgeous! I like the mini-humbucker pick ups on it without adjustable pole pieces. It reminds me of the original Gibson Firebird pickups. How do you find the sound of them compared to the P-90's?
