Bye, Bye Gibson.

And some day the not-so-old Gibsons will also be old. And if Gibson USA vanished (which i do not believe, but they'll probably need to concentrate solely on the expensive high quality models, like Framus/Warwick does here in Germany) it would be the advantage of us owners of Gibsons.

er uhm.....yes....

I see a shift to foreign production (they will ALL BE CHIBSONS SOON ;) muwahahahahah) and a few select REALLY high end 7-10k range custom shop --- henry J "DNA included" models will adorn the smaller USA production Boutique (factory is too blue color you pee ons!!!)
Only the truly DESERVING shal fondle Gibsonian royalty created from the finest woods and baby seal eye balls

it will be a glorious day.....

would you buy a guitar from this guy?>

But you are in a distinct minority. It's not they they made the changes, its that they made the universal and didn't provide buyers a choice. They learned their lesson and from 2016 on they have had the T and HP line, which is what they should have done from the start.

Exactly. I like having the choice. I don't want a zero nut, and surely don't want some robot tuner....so much so, that I will trade those for nibs. As a consumer, I like having the choice. I refused to buy a 2015 and waited until 2017 to get what I wanted. They clearly heard the consumer and responded. Love my Gibson.

Last I heard there was talk of Gibson moving to India.....

I don't believe India has room for them. I was sent there after a train wreck. Dowel Chemical dumped poison and killed 2,000 or so people. Folks there walk on each other. It is hot and smells bad. The rivers are clogged with the ashes of the dead. The cook down wind of a cremation. I want to get a SG one day but not from there.

It's gonna happen sooner or later, which is really sad, they use to be a great iconic guitar, even back in the sixties you might have had to sift through a few of them to find a good one, but when you did, it was a beautiful thing! Nowadays they're way over priced and the QC is terrible.

Guitar company Gibson reportedly facing bankruptcy

And then they start pushing crap like this. Really? Would you pay almost $4500.00 for this??

Modern Flying V

I wouldn't pay that price for any guitar.

From Slash? Hell, yeah!:D

Personally I've recently rekindled my love affair with the Stratocaster...Beck, Trower, Gilmour, Clapton, Blackmore, SRV, Hendrix...on and on and on.

Hell, didn't the Stratocaster help start the ball rolling with Buddy Holly???

...and even the most expensive top of the line Custom Shop Signature model is only $5K

I HAVE bougt a guitar from that guy. Actually, a whole bunch of them. Can’t even remember how many since he took over.

Me too. I have three Henry J. era Gibsons. One of them I bought new. The other two were used.

He's been at the helm since, what?, 1986? Jeez, since '86 I have probably bought and sold 20 or more Gibson guitars, and currently have 4 Hank-era ones.
