Burstbucker Pro Thoughts

I picked up a "Pre-enjoyed" set of Gibson Burstbucker PRO Rhythm and Lead pickups on the weekend. They have a wind date of 2010 based on the labels on the rear of the pickups.

The pickups in my Epiphone LP Standard LQ Series are VERY tame and I want to try something with a LITTLE bit more OOMPH. Online opinions of these are all over the map.

Does anyone have any experience with the Gibby Burstbucker PROs? Opinions (good or bad)?

These came in the 2007 studio I got earlier this year; and were also the stock pick ups in the LP Standard for that year, or some of those years. I have played this one almost daily.

Im mostly looking for that classic rock PAF OD/ not a ton of gain - AC/DC, Free/ Kossoff, Thin LIzzy, etc. ballpark of tone.

I'm up and down on these, some days I really like them, some days so-so. They are pretty bright.
I do think my amp / settings and speaker are more a factor when I am not so pleased, rather than pickups.

I like them enough by a good margin, with no desire to change them.

The burstbucker is highly recommended.
I like the Gibson Angus Young PU the most, but the spacing is for an SG.
I have always liked Gibson PUs better, I think they are better made and sound better.
I would like some Angus Young PUs with spacing to fit a Les Paul....but that might be wishing.
 
I had a pair in a Gibson SG. Nice pickup, but not enough gain for my playing style. I tried to give them away. They sat in a box on my bench for two years before I found someone who was looking for that low gain, Angus Young-esque tone.

Am I missing something? I am 100% sure that the string spacing on an SG and an LP are the same.
The Angus pickups seem to be very hard to come by lately.
I have been looking for one to go into my SG but I picked up a '57 Classic Plus that I think will end up in the SG.

Measure your string spacing at the bridge and direct over your neck pickup....

I have the '57 Classics in two guitars. In both my 2013 '61 Les Paul/SG Reissue and my transmogrified Burny SG Standard, I have the '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus combination, and they sound great. Even the '13 Gibson which is bone-stock, they sound excellent. In the Burny, I have them mated to RS linear and audio taper pots and Lux Grey Tiger paper in oil capacitors. For a really nice classic rock sound, I would definitely recommend them.

It was pretty Fugly when I got it. It was going to be a donor guitar for a "Fool" paint job. Unfortunately, the artist lives in England, and we couldn't coordinate our schedules on the few trips I was taking over there at the time. Instead, it ended up Pelham Blue. It's still a bit Fugly, but plays and sounds real nice.

No. You are not missing anything. Gibson does not make SG specific pickups.

I ran 57 Classic and Classic + in my 2018 SG Standard. They sounded better in there than in the 2013 Les Paul Signature T they came in. They really did come pretty close to an Angus type tone.
