Hello! I didn't get my confirmation email, but perhaps that doesn't matter.

Greetings to all my friends here and I look forward to making new friends!

Heket, the U-bass Queen of the Eastern Shires
(that's my full title :D)

Your Majesty, please excuse this humble servant's question but ... "The Eastern Shires" are where?

Hah, the Eastern part of the UK. One of my friends gave me that completely ridiculous sounding title, and I had it as a member title for the bass website where I'm part of, just for fun. The name kinda stuck and now it makes a fun ice breaker so I left it as it is. And hey, I don't mind being a queen!

Im not real imaginative:D......sorta openly under cover ;):p:D

What is the Bass count at your place these days?

Basses I have are Fender American Special P-bass, Yamaha TRBX505 and a Kala U-bass. The U-bass sees the lion's share of my playing because it's easier on my hands to play. My arthritis has worsened over the years and the big basses are becoming a bit of a handful.

Makes sense......I too am feeling a bit of that. just scored a cheap Short scale Viola bass last week --- and I must say it is not as "taxing" as the big boys. ....

I need to get a picture of the DOOM CREW ...... here is the Viola ...in "classic tuxedo black and white"

You couldn't be more welcome, Heket! Make yourself comfortable and rule the place (and flay Adrian if he misbehaves)

Just thinking a little further on your Royal Title, I may call myself ...
"Consort to Sharron the 12 string Queen of The Isle Of Man", I kinda like that it gives a humble colonial a step up. ;)

Same "Beatle" basses everyone sells. Mine is labeled "Stadium", Lou Capece music from NY.

Yeah, they are not really like the originals.

Ya know what - they sound great!

'allo again Heket. Did you ever explore the ramifications of Motown style bass playing?
I remember discussing that with you on some other forum, because the pulse of the "Detroit Sound"
is what got into my blood long long ago, in a galaxy far away. But it's still there all these years later.

Funny how old music from bygone ages often loses its appeal as we grow and progress... and how it
often has NO appeal for the generations that come later. But Motown still sounds good. IMHO of course.
I don't like all the music that I did when I was 20, but some of it carries itself well. And the Motown bass
lines seem to define something real for me.

I'm not as big a fan of Motown as some, but I definitely respect the bassists and basslines, and there is some fine stuff going on there. We have Danny Mo Morris, head of bass at Berklee and Motown specialist, as one of our guest tutors on my bass lessons website, and I always watch his seminars and courses just to hear him play those smooth, powerful lines.
