I've always wanted one of these, but never got one.... Hmmm
Then damned Reverb showed me a completely naked one for a reasonable price tag... I made an offer and double checked my credit card limit. The guy bit on the offer.

Here's her naked and being turned into the rockstar that she now is.
Tooke an hour and a half start to finish.

All the wiring I wanted to do. 1 vol knob and that's it!

She was born with robot tuners, so I had to drill for this set off my old SG.

Hardware off one of my other Les Pauls I think an aluminum tailpiece.

This is a 2016 Les Paul Studio HP.
Slightly wider flatter neck
Titanium adjustable zero fret nut
Feels like medium frets.
I put a brand new Seymour Duncan TB6 Distortion in it and it sounds glorious! !!
It's pretty light with modern weight relief.
Also Pleked.

It's got the best neck I've ever played on an LP.

Her are the first notes she's ever played.... I'm getting some sort of American Indian vibe.... Lol maybe she's part Cherokee or something?

I was going to name her Lucy because today I saw a dear friend named Lucy and I haven't seen her in half a year... But maybe I'll name her "Picks with a fist!"

The sustain on this one is way different than all of my herd.

Happy New Guitar Day!

LP Studios are great guitars.

Good choice on the Burstbuckers. I've never had them in any of my guitars, but I think Gibson pickups, in general, are way better than a lot of people give them credit for.

If I change pickups in my Washburn, I'm strongly leaning toward some type of Gibson pickup.

When I got home today I swapped in a set of Burstbuckers, bb2 and bb3.
They actually sound a perfect amount of more tame and chunky.
I love the aesthetic much more too.

I ordered some chrome gotoh keystone tuners and a chrome truss rod cover, we'll see how that looks by this weekend.
I liked the Burstbuckers I played, my friends Gibson Midtown (loved that guitar) not sure which butstbuckers it had but that in to a 2203 was glorious. The new guitar looks and sounds good! Congrats!

Totally agree. I am a big fan of Gibson pickups, especially the ceramic-magnet ones. Unless I am going for something real specific (like, nothing else sounds quite like a Super Distortion) I use Gibson pickups.

Are you referring to the 500T pickups? Those are the only Gibson pickups I'm aware of that have a ceramic magnet. Are there others?

I have the often-maligned 498T/490R combo in my Les Paul Custom. They are the original pickups in that guitar. I like them a lot and have no intention of changing them out. It's funny because I sometimes get compliments on the sound of that Les Paul. I've toyed around with putting a set of those in my Washburn. At one point I considered putting an uncovered set of 498T/490R pickups in my Jackson. I was amused by the irony of putting Gibson pickups in a Fender product!

I have the 57 Classics in my 2014 SG. I've done a bit of magnet swapping in those pickups and eventually went right back to the original A2 magnets. I suppose I should have left well enough alone and just stuck with the way Gibson designed and built them. But, it was an insightful and educational effort, so there is value in that. I have the original mini-humbuckers in my 1974 SG. Now, those are a cool sounding pickup - very crunchy and tight. I realize they are derived from an earlier Epiphone design, but I still like them.

Speaking of the Super Distortion, I had those in my very first electric guitar back in the '80s - a Univox Effie, which is a semi-hollow guitar. Yes, I share your opinion of them. I do like those quite a bit.
