Boss Reverb Pedal Advice:

Ok,

So, at Saturday's show, our bassist let me use his Boss RV3. Really cool effect. Gave me that little ambiance I wanted rom my otherwise very "dry sounding" rig. However, I am aware there are more modern pedals out there, so I wanted to ask for opinions and advice before ordering up. It will be replacing my Boss DD-3, so it needs to remain in the Boss lineup.

Thoughts and experiences????

RV-3 is the older discontinued one. The RV-6 is the updated and still available version. Not too much to say, they are the industry standard that every other maker chases, have tons of features and sound great. Plus they are Boss so as close to indestructible as makes no difference. Nothing not to like.

Are you looking for something that the DD-3 doesn't do? Like a more "natural" reverb sound? Another one to look at might be the DD-8...it's got some very organic sounding modes plus can still do the full-blown digital delay thing.

I want to be able to use a reverb effect primarily...so a reverb/delay effect pedal would give me more versatility.

I use the RV5, does everything I need from a reverb pedal.
Rock solid unit. Easy to use. Decent all round sound.

The RV6 wasn't around when I got mine, so that may be worth you looking at.

Pedal arrived today. Absolutely brilliant in every respect. I pulled the Modest Mike Modded DD-3 off the board to make room for it. I've had that pedal since the late 1980's and its officially known as a DD-3 2a.

The DD-3 always sounded very "dry" to me and the repeat was never "clean." This pedal gives me much more versatility and the delay effect really does work well.

I do not miss the DD-3....
