Boss Katana 100 or Fender Pro Jr. or something else?

Thats a cool deal -- rent it -- play it --- BUY -- or RETURN -- no flip[ping --- craigslist B.S. to deal with ....hhhhmmmmm
I will probably return it no matter what. There are few used ones on CL locally for about half price of the new one. The used ones are all version III though so I'll have to think about that :) Even new it's a pretty low cost for tube amp.

I heard good stuff about the Boss amp. I have a Fender Mustang II and the modeling get old. They sound alike or unplayable. I really love tube amps. I like Fender Clean.

I bought a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and it is a boat anchor. I saw a video on the 15 watt Monoprice amp. I just bought a AC 15 that I really hated. I took back the over priced Vox and up graded the Monoprice amp. It's louder than the Vox and I have no trouble getting it in and out of the car.
I’ve owned both the Deluxe and the AC15. I thought they were excellent amps. The AC15 in particular had an awesome tone for me. They were both too heavy to carry around.

I finally plugged my strat in to see what it sounded like. OMG! I can finally get that strat tone I’ve been after for years. Positions two and four are awesome with this amp. They sing. Now I have to decide between my strat or SG for a live test. First world problems LOL. I wish I still had a tele to test it with.

In America every one should be given an attenuators! White curtains free too and a pot card for free pot and Gibson and Fender items. All go on your free pot card. Less poop will happen and wars fought with paint guns on Saturday afternoons.

Realized I didn’t answer the original wuestion in my post.

If the AK tone in the video is what you are after get a high power analog SS amp. I own a Katana and I think it’d be OK but not ideal. An orange CR-60/120 or a Quilter 101 would be the ticket IMO.

Sounds like your excited. If you're excited, I'm excited. The changes Fender made to the newer version IV, looks good on paper. Maybe they listen to their customers sometimes... :).

There's also that World Of Mods for these amps, too. One of the mods involves changing the bias circuit to run the power tubes cooler, without negatively impacting the tone.

I am excited. I've been chasing the tweed tone with 6V6 amps and have now found it with an EL84 amp. Who knew?

Mom's studio is full of old Fender amps. I never liked them. For Country music, a Telecaster and a Twin Reverb is a mandatory prerequisite, and that they do well for sure...

To be honest 15 watts is all you need for most venues today. The EF86 EL84 X-2 EZ-81 amp I built have been using on stage for the last two years volume on 2

Couldn't agree more. Both of my current amps are 25 watts, switchable to 10 watts. I run them at 10 watts 90% of the time.

Took the Pro Junior and my SG Special to the Chieftain bar jam last night. The amp is a keeper. The bar was packed and a lot of players were there so I only got to play a few songs but the tone was sweet and easily goes from clean to dirty blues by playing with the guitar volume and tone. I was worried about a single ten inch speaker and 15 watts. The house drummer is very loud and my amp ended up behind his kit. The volume was never above 1:00 o'clock on the Pro Junior. It's is an awesome amp if you like the Fender on the edge of saturation tone. I set the volume to 1:00 o'clock, the tone to 11:00 o'clock and never had to touch it again.

Kerry, I'm happy for you and your Pro. Jr., for sure. I was hoping when I started reading this thread, that it would be the one you'd choose. It has the features you required and you discovered that the tone was better than you originally thought it would be....especially your discovery with the Strat. Most people I have talked with about the Blues Jr. I purchased (Version I) claimed that their choice would have been a Pro Jr. instead. They all thought its' tone was far superior to the Blues Jr.

In the right hands, the Pro Jr. is a mighty amp when it comes to tube tone.
