Saw that on his blog. Looks like he's using quite the assortment of guitars on this new album.
I am really getting into riding the guitar volume knobs now. Really makes a huge difference in the sound. These are great videos and the discussion really helps out a lot. I have only been using my EQ and a tiny bit of reverb for effects lately (unless I need a specific effect for something) and it really lets the guitar and amp present their tone.
Don't let the video title fool you. It is pretty informative, especially if you play live
I'm toying with the idea of changing my tone pots from audio to linear. The audio pots work great for volume, but I don't like how fast they roll off for tone.

I agree. It’s always good to look at other ways. I usually play fairly clean. All the members music with heavy distortion lately has got me experimenting.Y’know...there’s something else about that video that kind of grabs me: Bonamassa’s progression toward simplicity.
There’s a lot to be said for that. I talk a lot about processors and stuff and I don’t regret any of that. They serve a purpose for me. But, this video does have me re-evaluating my rig.
Even if I don’t end up changing anything I still think it’s healthy and worthwhile to do a sanity check on our setups from time to time.
He talks like most i know on the professional side of music. Its so cool in studios & big gigs when its people celebrating the music. When it becomes a competition of some sorts or the bashing... been doing heavy research last 3 weeks on some guitars..real in depth..been to most gear sites...its ugly & getting worse...guy posted about his Sg & by the end of the thread the so called 'experts" tore him a new one & basically got personal with him.insulting his maleness....over him likeing a guitar...i kinda looked at the posters a lil bit & was entertained & laughed at the insecurity..not one has any music whatsoever out there to listen to & they tend to follow threads interjecting their personal agenda evry time..same answer..same ol guitar posted in a thread that has nothing to do with it..same negative comments...its cool to love your gear, really can't put a final statement on anything be better than anything...gear in the right hands makes great music of all genres...in studios..when you do session work..its a blast...no ranking of gear..talked down at..just people as a team getting the best out of ya for the best music ya can make. Joe is a pro..just like we all are supposed to be at our chosen trades...Joe talks just like one of us, and even though he has some exclusive gear, he conveys it in a way that is relevant for all of us. I am glad we have him around!
