boil boil toil and trouble?

That's a thought and one didn't thunk, but I'd like to find an old school brass bridge like it originally had IF possible. I found a cheapy bridge that may bolt into the existing holes (I hope). There are two sets of holes as is. One set from the original bridge and another set for the Badass bridge. If I can get the Badass bridge off I can sell/barter it for the bridge I hoping to get - IF, I can find one that is.

well played Fretless......I bought a black one from them a couple weeks ago for my Squire/fender fretless build ;)

I just boiled the strings on an old early 80's Westone Thunder 1 bass I picked up today. They are a lot cleaner and feel better - used some string cleaner on them afterwards. The water was pretty nasty afterwards - lol. They'll do for the whole tweaking, setting up, etc. Gotta find another bridge, hopefully an unfinished solid brass bridge, for it. It's got an early 80's (I think) leo quan Badass bridge on it at the moment. Nice bridge, but it's lowest height is still too high for the bass string height/action wise. It'll make for a fun adventure trying to locate a bridge for it - I kind of want to keep it a close to original as possible.

Pardon me if I missed it but if this is a bolt on neck how about a small neck shim to change the angle?

It had a shim when I got it and the action was still too high even with the saddles completely down. It's not the neck bow/adjustment either, so...

Plus, I honestly prefer the look of the vintage bridges from looking at the westone pictures online. If I give up finding a bridge I may make up a full neck pocket shim and shim it up, but it's going to need a fair amount of angle to get the action where I want it. I'd much prefer use a bridge like or similar to the one it was designed for if possible.

I got the leo bridge listed locally - hopefully it sells and funds some TLC for the bass. It's growing on me - I like it - I've named it 'The Japanese Hippy Bass' - lol...
