Blue guitars! Let's see 'em

Gibson had a great blue called Faded Denim. I almost bought it instead of my gold top.

Handful of blues.

Firebird Studio, going a bit green already. It hung for years in a little music store before I found it - white circle on its pickguard where the sticker was.

My only PRS bolt-on, a '97 CE22. Replaced the Dragon 1 pickups with a '1985' reissue set coupla years ago; now it sounds quite similar to my long-retired '87.

Eko Kadett SC-1. Cheap quasi-Strat that turned out to have a great neck. Just needed better pickups.

'06 Thunderbird in Deep Impact Blue, a Ford color. Ordered it for some reunion shows, a band I made records with back in the days of vinyl.
Sounds great - I named it Thunderbeast - but the thing feels like it's about ten feet long.

The best for last: Lady Blue, my all-time favorite Strat. Supernaturally lively, and tone that's a perfect balance of wood and glass.
Already refretted and refinished by the time I got her in the early 80s, but she was born in October '63.

I realized that I never posted my mongrel '62ish Sonic Blue Strat. Body and hardware are from around '62. It's got a '62 reissue neck from '95 with what looks like a Brazilian fingerboard. And some Manlius '61 spec pickups that were based on Fender's Rory Gallagher tribute Strat. Mick knows the right people to speak with about pickups specs at Fender. It has a very creamy, lush sound to it. None of my other Strats sound like this one. I wish the neck wasn't so thin. My hands hurt after a half hour when I play this. The sonic rewards are well worth it.
