Godin Freeway 1.jpg

came "sans" wang bar..........Im a$$uming I can find one-- but TBTH Im not big on the tremolo dive bomb ariel acrobatics of say SMitty or Mr HErndon --I LIKE FLoyds-- I just dont USE Floyds much--
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
this Godin has LOVELY sustain and wonderful playability --- but ive HEARD I can INCREASE sustain and melodial emanations (for newbs--I make up words its o.k. go with it) --- with a TREMBLOCK OF WOODNESS......

I've always felt it's more a tone thing, tone and liveness. You might gain a tiny bit of sustain by decking it but you might also lose some of the air in the tone.

I say it's worth finding a bar to fit and leaving it floating. As others have said, that's the original intent when the guitar was designed.

IMO a trem decked hard enough to affect the sustain requires too much force for real subtlety. And of course you can only bend downward.

Even if you don't ever divebomb, even if you use it very seldom - there's nothing like adding a subtle waver while an open chord is ringing out.

I have a Fender Strat --floating trem
A Squire Jagmaster decked but can "shimmer" downward---both have the bars on
and an sg w/ Bigsby (thanks Chas and Hack) -0-- so Im not "missing" a trem if I am in the mood to wango my tango
:)

Mostly why I was considering blocking this one as a unique and different flavor

Well with my two Strats both have whammy bars, they work great, stayed in tune as well. But right now I have one decked with low action has very good sustain the other slightly floating which has very good sustain. but I am now going to deck the other one as well because I like lower action for playability. I have realized lower action is for me, my other 2 guitars are already lower.
