Those amps sound pretty good to me from what I’ve heard so far.
I’ve gigged my Katana 50 last week and I’ll be doing it again this week. I can get it into the ballpark of my AC15 live tone and so once the band kicks in the punters don’t know the difference.
The weight benefit makes it an easier proposition to lug it to the gig so I’m more than happy to use it!
I’m sure the Blackstar doesn’t move the air quite the same way the Marshall does Robert, but in a band situation you may just prefer to go for the lighter weight and sound options?
Good points!!!!
The DSL40C is a monster in terms of speaker movement and sheer presence. It is the perfect amp for classic rock and I am super pleased with it.
I have no plans to replace it. It's my main amp.
The Blackstar is not only lighter, but its incredibly versatile. It doesn't require effect boxes. The onboard effects are superior in tone to any of my stomp boxes.
The 100watt Blackstar is also plenty loud. It doesn't sound as "big" as the DSL40C, but it is far more cultured. It just does everything well.
It's one of those amplifiers that you find yourself plugging into because its just so fun to play through...
