I just bought the Blackstar Debut 15E to practice for a couple of bands I'm in. We have some gigs coming up in Europe and I'm out of town for over a month in California and Texas. I currently have a Dr Z Z-Lux, A Marshall Studio Jubilee and a Fender Blues Jr. I've owned many great Marshalls and Fenders, some hand wired, and a Mesa Boogie, and recently owned a Katana 50 watt. The Blackstar Debut 15E amp sounds and feels so good it's amazing. I brought a supped up Dan-Electro DC-3 on the trip with me. It has Seymour Duncan lipstick pickups, Gotoh Hap M 510 tuners, custom Tele saddle, PRS electronics (It's a pro level guitar now) and I'm playing this guitar through it. I can dial in so many sounds from this amp, from Fender to Marshall, different flavors of each, clean to overdriven and everywhere in between, and that's very satisfying. The volume is perfect for what I'm trying to do. The speakers sound great and it's very detailed. It's engineered so well. I feel like I can hear the sounds I'm used to from my amps at home, at a lower volume, whereas the Katana 50 seemed to fall way short of the sounds I was looking for. The Blackstar sounds like a mini boutique amp. It is solid state, so it doesn't have the bloom and harmonic content of a tube amp. But it is really versatile with detailed tones. I think it sounds way better than the Katana because it's solid state. The Blackstar 15E just nails tones at lower volumes. And it gets loud, although I won't be playing loud on it. I am playing at 70-80 dbs. I haven't plugged into the headphone jack or put my phone through it to practice yet, and I'm uncertain about the quality because I just got it. At the price point, even if these parts of the amp don't work as expected, this amp is well worth the money for the sounds it produces with the speakers alone, and the delay. The delay isn't very flexible concerning control of the level and repeats, but it sits in the mix where it should, in my opinion. I am so impressed with this amp that I'm looking at their St James offering. Way to go, Blackstar. I feel like Blackstar has raised the bar for the practice amp categor
I have been contemplating getting one of these since October, so I thought for Christmas I would get me one, so last week I ordered one. To be here according to courier Jan 3rd.
But they are experiencing bad weather, so its delaying arrival times, it needs to travel 4 Provinces to get to me. I am looking forward to getting this amp. When it arrives, you will know..
