Birth Year Guitar

Why does it seem like it's so important to some people to have a guitar made in the year they were born?

Interesting. I would rather have a 1960 Les Paul, or any 1960s SG. I probably wouldn't pick 1966 (birth year).

I have two. I would really like a '62 Les Paul/SG Standard, but I'm happy with what I have. A '62 SG Special and a mongrel '62 Strat are nothing to sneer at.

I have a '76 Bicentennial Firebird. It's a very nice guitar.

That would have been an okay Trans Am year. 78 would have been the 25th anniversary Corvette.

I'll bet that is nice, it's just that most Gibson fans I know poo poo on the Norlin era stuff.

I had a '76 Les Paul Custom for a few years. Mine wasn't supermassive.
Kinda wish I hadn't sold it. But the proceeds got me a nice Standard-80.

‘82 on the right, and ‘85 on the left. Bought the ‘82 in ‘83, the other in ‘89. I can assure you they have never seen AquaNet. Plenty of beer and weed, but no blow also.
