The legendary Gordon Lightfoot who has graced the stage over 170 times was the last artist to perform in 2018 and only fitting he’s the first to perform inside the Allan Slaight Auditorium in the new Massey Hall. It’s the first of 3 night inside the Hall including tonight, Friday and Saturday.

Over the years a variety of performers have appeared on stage including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Rush, Billy Joel, Luciano Pavarotti, Justin Bieber, Jerry Seinfeld, Russell Peters and many more have appeared live on stage inside the historic building.

Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo got a sneak peak at the newly renovated Massey Hall and said “It’s so amazing. It’s beautiful. I can’t wait to play here! I can’t wait to see somebody here. It feels like it got an incredible shine, but it doesn’t feel that different.”

The 2,550-seat venue has fresh new red seats. They’re wider, more comfortable and with more legroom than the old wooden ones, with 470 on the floor removable to allow for 750 general admission standing. Washrooms and bars installed on every floor and an elevator.
Majid Jordan, Andy Kim Christmas Concert, City and Colour and The Tenors are doing show in December. Check upcoming events here
Massey Hall first opened it’s doors in 1894 and was a gift to Toronto by Hart Massey. It was designated a National Historic Site of Canada on June 15, 1981.

Gordon Lightfoot, the legendary Metal singer?

I have an important Lightfoot story... in Saskatoon at the Centennial Auditorium in 1992, Gord stopped his show so I could propose to a wonderful young lady sitting beside me in the audience. She said "Yes" (how could she not?). Then, after some great applause... by my prior request, this fine, fine gentleman played this song so we all could celebrate!

How is that possible?
When I was a little kid, he was old already.
"Braindrops keep fall in on my head..."
"If you could breed my mind love..."

He must be like 117 years old now...
Nobody's that old. Must be fake like Britney Spears.

No I wasn't , but sure would have like to been. Whoever was , was very lucky to be there. Gordon Lightfoot is one of the best , if not the best singer songwriters of our time. He has written many songs for Big names in the business, and the many many songs he has written for himself is astounding! And not only that, continues to perform to sellout crowds wherever he goes. The guy is remarkable!! Still touring at his age of 83 is Fantastic!!!

I have an friend i went to broadcasting school with... who is news cameraman for CTV National in Toronto. He's shot lot of interesting interviews with celebs and artists. He's sent me pics of him and Lightfoot in Lightfoots' own home which he described a big, stodgy and very dark inside. Lots of old wood, and I Believe he mentiond a very chunky crystal whisky decanter
