The legendary Gordon Lightfoot who has graced the stage over 170 times was the last artist to perform in 2018 and only fitting he’s the first to perform inside the Allan Slaight Auditorium in the new Massey Hall. It’s the first of 3 night inside the Hall including tonight, Friday and Saturday.
Over the years a variety of performers have appeared on stage including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Rush, Billy Joel, Luciano Pavarotti, Justin Bieber, Jerry Seinfeld, Russell Peters and many more have appeared live on stage inside the historic building.
Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo got a sneak peak at the newly renovated Massey Hall and said “It’s so amazing. It’s beautiful. I can’t wait to play here! I can’t wait to see somebody here. It feels like it got an incredible shine, but it doesn’t feel that different.”
The 2,550-seat venue has fresh new red seats. They’re wider, more comfortable and with more legroom than the old wooden ones, with 470 on the floor removable to allow for 750 general admission standing. Washrooms and bars installed on every floor and an elevator.

Massey Hall first opened it’s doors in 1894 and was a gift to Toronto by Hart Massey. It was designated a
National Historic Site of Canada on June 15, 1981.
