Big City Nights - Collaboration Project:

Hey, Guys, we knocked this out from scratch in about 2-1/2 hours today. My goal was to come up with a more "ruff" and high energy recording, rather than a highly polished studio production. Of course, I put my stamp on it and included a few Easter Eggs for you all to enjoy.

This is hot off the press and there are no vocals on it yet. I haven't even finished the lead fills yet. I welcome your comments on the rushed mix. Jim (my former singer) will be adding his vocals sometime this week, then the project has to come back to me for backing vocals and additional mixing.

I like this tune….

I couldn't carry a note in a paper bag.
I sound good in the shower though!

I think your singer backed out because it was intimidating. You guys sounded so good it wasn't just a cover tune, it sounded like a tribute. That would mean the singer would have to sound like Klaus, otherwise it would sound off.

Sad to say, you guys did too good of a job.

Maybe this video will help. If not, maybe is somebody knows Klaus Meine number?

That's very kind of you to say. Sometimes, singers just get opinionated and don't like a certain song for a variety of reasons.

I've never understood this, because as a session player, you may be asked to do literally anything.

That song was an anthem to me growing up, watching my VHS of "World Wide Live" in 1984 and dreaming of the big stage one day.

I think, at some point, the song deserves to be finished???

Here's another little nugget we found in the recovered files from my PC crash...The isolated guitar tracks from this recording:

Here's our November 2018 cover of 'Breakin The Law' by Judas Priest, featuring our old singer. This was recorded in my home studio by my drummer friend and I and 'built up' rack by track into the complete song that you hear.

I am playing all guitars and bass and I am singing backing vocals. Jim's vocals were not recorded until a year later, just before I left the band in November 2019 to join Soloman Grundy.

The guitar solo (which is a deviation from the original tune) is just a one take improvisation.
