Beware of scammers!

I don’t get many scam texts…. But I do get emails. And yes. I report them to the vendor, credit card, whomever. There’s also a generic address to report scam emails to.

And then to be safe. I pull up my Amazon, PayPal, CC acct just to be sure there are no charges beyond what I have made. So far. Never have been.

The good ones are the ones that inform you there has been suspicious activity on your account and it’s been suspended for your safety. Click here to clear things up. Yeah. Right. Most of those I don’t even have an account with them and never have.

Regardless. Never never never respond to a suspicious text or click on a link in a suspicious email. I won’t end well.

The other good one is on FB. This weeks give away contest. Economy is so bad. Gas prices too high. Click here for validation form to be entered into contest to win a Truck….. camper….. boat….. etc.

Thing is. FB page was set up today. Company doesn’t exist. Now they have your info and most likely everyone in your friends list.

I have my credit cards setup to text me on every purchase. I rarely answer the phone if I don’t recognize the number, but if I do and someone is trying to sell me something, I ask them if the have an extended warranty on their vehicles. If not, I ask if they want to buy some. :rolf:
That’s not a bad idea. Our bank emails when the debit card gets used. When an automatic payment is made. PayPal is set up to tell me when I use it. Should do our two cards. Only have a visa and discover. Never got into the deal of getting a new credit card to pay off an old cc. Consequently. Don’t have a billfold with 14 credit cards in it…. And don’t laugh. I’ve seen it.

As for phone calls. Don’t know about other brands, but on my iPhone I can set it so any number not in my contact list goes straight to voice mail. Never rings. Love it. And it’s free. Don’t have to get an app. I do get an alert on a missed call. And I figure if it’s for real, they’ll leave a voice mail and I’ll call back.

I’ve always wanted to answer an obvious scam call with “Good afternoon. You’ve reached [name of county] Division of Fraud. How may I direct your call?” Just haven’t done it …..yet.

One thing you will find on all the scams, is they will never mention your name or account number. They don't know it. If Amazon doesn't know who you are, then ignore it...same goes for banks, all other accounts that you have....and even Nigerian Princesses.

I get phishing emails and texts, I report them.

I got a cell phone call from a police outfit fund raising yesterday. The caller was a bit pushy, but I managed to get him to understand I am on a limited income and any donation would be small like $25. He then transferred me to a woman who tried to see if I would be paying with credit card and to verify my details such as name and address and if I would consider bumping my donation up $5 to help defray their costs. When she asked for my address, I did not give out any info per se, but then asked, " don't you have my contact details? At that, the woman told me they have me at 1xXX Arlxxxxx Ave,,,, so I said that is correct, I will await their request by mail. I reiterated that I am on a fixed income and do not have credit cards. Then hung up. So, if I do get their mail, I will look it over and decide to send a little something or not.

Yeah you definitely gotta watch for scammers these days, especially in calls and emails! Which reminds me!

" The factory warranty on your vehicle is set to expire! Please wait and provide your Date of Birth, Social Security Number, Street Where You Grew Up, Mother's Maiden Name, First Pet's Name and Favorite Place To Visit so we may verify your information!"

I don’t donate over the phone. I’m about done donating via snail mail. Once you’re on their mailing list you’ll be getting correspondence from them on a weekly basis for the rest of your life asking for more money.

You would be surprised if you seen how many times somebody has tried to log into my Facebook. Ummm I don't have facebook.

I've also decided to save up all of the vacations I have won and take them all at once and have one kick ass summer.;)

I get that call often, I like to play along just to waste their time, it's time they could have spent scamming someone else. One of my favorite retorts from a female scammer that I finally called out after wasting her time was she told me to go f*ck myself. :ROFLMAO:
