Im curious--

I have this

WHICH is about to get some humbucker sized (P90's -- or Jangletrons still not sure) anywho--
the routes for the UNCOVERED Seymours are NOT QUITE large enough for the COVERED options at hand---
I figured HACKING away with a dremel--(my usual method) but thought I would als ASK the very knowledgeable folks here-----and the rest of you -- :) (just like a Ferengi ask for help and insult you at the same time)
WHAT DO YOU USE?

I usually draw the layout, the scribe a line (or score you could say) with an X-Acto Knife, using a steel rule as a guide. Final shaping is often donr with a Chan saw file...

I have a nice scroll saw I would use. Makes very fine and accurate cuts.
What brand and model of a scroll saw do you have?

I used to have a scroll saw that I bought from Harbor Freight. It was a 20 lb. pile of poop!

I had one of those Harbor Freight models. It was craptastic! I have a Dewalt now, but it wasn't cheap!

Well, I would say heat a butter knife red hot, but I see there are a couple better suggestions, so...
Many, many moons ago a buddy of mine had to cheap guitars (would probably sell for sever hundred now - lol) that he cut clear pick guards out of Plexiglas and if I remember correctly filled in the gaps with marbles - lol.

I do DOn but would like to SAVE the original PG -- if I break out the HAMMER OF THE GODZ -- that will NOT be the case :)

bludgeoning multi level recording boards is one thing --- fine trimming a 20 year old brittler Pick guard is another

Dremel, sanding drum, and low speed to keep from melting things.
Final fit with a file to straighten up the edges. Maybe a rat tail file for the corners.

Go slow & test fit often. Much easier to remove material than to put it back.

From the MASTER of fitting MULTIPLE pups in places they didnt exist previously!!!!!!!!!!

In all seriousness, Hack IS the master.
I used a funky dremmel cutting bit, mounted in my drill press, and set to a nice slow speed, to cut my pick guard on the V. I wanted the Stetsbar to sit nice and snug.

Like these:

I wanted a little bevel to the edge though. They make straight, barrel, cutters too.
I liked pushing the guard around to make the cutout, instead of trying to carve with the tool.
