Best instrumentals under (or slightly above) 3 minutes

An instrumental is a recording normally without any vocals, although it might include some inarticulate vocals, such as shouted backup vocals in a big band setting. Through semantic widening, a broader sense of the word song may refer to instrumentals. ... These interludes are a form of break in the song

Yeah I agree, in my opinion vocals don't make something "non-instrumental" unless they're used to convey some semantic meaning.

Way past 3 min but here's something from when I had guitar lessons:

Did not know that Marcus Miller plays bass there! I've seen him live twice. Solo in 2003 and as part of SMV in 2009. This recording makes pretty good justice to how much bass there was:

I'll throw this out, even though it's 4:25. My Mom has always loved Journey and one day, she asked me if I would consider playing guitar over Journey's "Faithfully," as if the guitar was performing the lead vocals.

This is one take improv over a Journey backing track. It was given to Mom as a Mother's Day gift in 2019.

You'll notice in my tone and less than cultured playing style, why I'm known by many as a musical Neanderthal.
