and a Behringer Tube Overdrive pedal.....used with my clean tube amps--- which is where it gets .....not so nifty--- its "o.k." but sort of muddy --- or SOMETHING I cant put my finger on but I dont like it 100% --- when a VERY nice tube amp sounds worse with a pedal-- than a modeling amp----shouldnt I try something else???

For my best dirt pedal, a variation on Smitty_p's answer,,, the "Head Master" switcher's footswitch that switches from my 1987 clone amp (a great crunch tone itself) to the Caswell #39 mod amp, the quintessential 80's metal lead tone.
I do use pedals at times though, with a strat I most always have a tube screamer on.
A super Crunchbox is hard to beat (Marshall in a box). This is probably my favorite when I need to use a pedal for dirt (volume constraints).
Cheers
Sounds like a killer setup!
I do use a TubeScreamer to put a little hair on an otherwise clean sound. Other than that, I’d rather have a two channel amp...or your dual amp setup.
Sweet!
Just because we like good youtube clips, its Gearmanndude on an SG, & hopefully to show why its my most used dirt box.the probably be..................................I dont know.................
I have Marshall--- in a box --- its a MARSHALL
I have Orange in a Box---
Kustom in a box-
and Fender modeling (plethora of stuff) in a box.....
Peavey Piranha ---6505 Peavey tone--in a box--
and a Behringer Tube Overdrive pedal.....used with my clean tube amps--- which is where it gets .....not so nifty--- its "o.k." but sort of muddy --- or SOMETHING I cant put my finger on but I dont like it 100% --- when a VERY nice tube amp sounds worse with a pedal-- than a modeling amp----shouldnt I try something else???
do I NEED another dirt pedal?
ugh-- I dont know--- Im looking for a suggestion---
Oh and --- prefer not to pay a fortune ---- so something good-- but not a behringer-- or Danelectro--- (not that there is anything wrong with those if you like those) if you know what I mean ...
I mean Joyo--- NUX--- -- Im not against them-- if someone knows one is the "e" by all means let me know--- letys hear it -- do a clip baby--
Snarky Answer Alert!
The best dirt pedal is the foot switch that selects the high gain channel on a two-channel amp.
Why? I think it sounds better than a pedal.

Otherwise, I do like a Tubescreamer.
This is such a cool looking pedal. And, if this pedal sounds real good... it's like Icing On The Cake...
