One phenomenon of playing live at hogh volumes is you can't hear your amp. The sound literally travels past you, but can be overtly loud to people in the crowd.

I am not sure they make it any easier to hear the amp in stage...part of me feels like they kill som of the highs that contribute to clarity.

More experimenting needed...
 
Excuse my ignorance, what are this things and what for?
It covers the cone on the speaker to keep your amp from projecting a beam of sound straight at the audience, people in the very front of the amp, and to get a broader sound out of it , not a laser beam to cause ear fatigue, that is how I believe they work.
