Looks like AC/DC goes on an up against The Who, unless there's a late intervention. Can't help but wonder how Who vs Stones might have gone but that's likely a moot thought.
To me both bands are winners, it's very true AC/DC ain't noise pollution, but I can't get no satisfaction
seeing my hopes for the stones shattered. I'll miss you LOL!

Maybe a little too soon to call, but I got dinner to make.... if it changes before deadline, I'll swap the image out, but I believe the Night Prowlers took this one.

Next up is UFO vs. Rush

I know there are serious UFO fans here. I think I can name a single member.
Being Canadian, the names of all three RUSH Members were embedded in my brain before birth. Kiddin!

But truth to tell, this is one bracket I feel I probably shouldn't even vote on. I'm sort of apathetic on this one. Well, perhaps I'd vote for UFO, not even knowing the catalog. I mean, Rush did that Rush thing, for MANY years, like only Rush could. I had a roommate in college who desecrated my
turntable with 2112 anytime I wasn't looking, that whole Passage to Bangkok thing? Let's just say we were with 'em in spirit probably too much.
I cannot deny the virtuosity, a power trio of incredible talent. The approach to songcraft, breaking the norms of structure all the time. And time? I mean the crazy time signatures, changes, epic songs, non-standard approaches in so many ways, and it worked. How the hell did they do it?
All real. But man, Geddy's vocal timbre just drives me up the wall. But I think Rush purists may agree the best stuff is right in this time period?

Listening to just a few songs this afternoon? UFO sounds a little too much like a mediocre bar band with a little talent. I'll admit I didn't dig very deep.

On the other hand, It takes no digging at all to stumble across amazing thing after amazing thing created by Rush.

UFO must have had alien stealth technology, they managed to stay completely off my radar as a music loving youth. I couldn't even come up with a song title to search. But, it's going to be fun to watch the arguments here nonetheless.

Unfortunately, after Thursday, I'm going to have to put this contest on hiatus for a few days because I will be travelling
and it's hard to do any graphics work travelling. Unless somebody else wants to take care of that with the tourney ladder?

Looking as my own record so far, I'm two for five. Is anyone five for five so far?

I'm going with Rush. Admittedly, I don't care much for Geddy Lee's voice, but the overall status of this band is near legendary. Pretty much anyone who is at all familiar with prog rock has heard of them. Not to mention the sheer virtuoso musicianship on all parts.

That is not to say I think UFO aren't good, as well.

However, I don't think it's a stretch to say Rush pushes past UFO in, to say the least, the size of the following they amassed during the '70s.

Say what? There's still 2 hours left on the clock before it becomes a win for either AC/DC or The Rolling Stones. It ain't over just yet! A lot can change in 2 hours (I hope).

Under pressure, eh?

I had to vote for Rush.
Leif Erikson is one of my all-time favorite guitar players...

JK, Rush is truly one of my top 5 or so personal favorite bands.
UFO has some great tunes and MSG is no slouch, but not a close decision on my end.

I'll never forget the first time I heard "All the World's a Stage" on vinyl with the album cover in hand and headphones on. I was completely blown away. I had heard of them and heard a couple of songs on the radio before, but I was not prepared for what I was about to experience. I've been a fan since that day and that album will always be in my top 5..

Same here. I actually heard ATWAS before 2112 even though it was released later that same year. I had only heard some of the first and second albums before then so was absolutely not prepared for what I heard. It's still one of my favorite albums and I still listen to it very regularly. Heck, I have my ancient vinyl copy in a frame on the wall of my office.

I think UFO had a couple pretty damn good records and Schenker is kick ass or course. But Rush is all time kick ass. Too many memories from those aforementioned formative years.

I'm going to go with UFO because I know this is not going to go in their favor, judging by the 15 to 3 ratio so far. But the reality is I love both bands and RUSH is one of my all-time favorites. They are the thinking man's band with some of the most beautiful and intricate music ever written by a trio. 2112 is legendary but Hemispheres is otherworldly

But in support of UFO? For those that never really listened to them or gave them a chance? Use this contest to open your eyes and ears to them. Strangers In The Night is THE greatest live album ever made and that's not even a debate. Seriously: name your favorite live album and I'll stack this against it and its because unlike most "live" albums that were faked by studio magic? Strangers In the Night is 100% authentic.

They were one helluva band and pure, no frills Rock N Roll. The most underrated band of all time and @Mitch Pearrow SJMP know's exactly what I'm talking about! It's a shame they bracketed against RUSH so early because they could've taken on a lot of these other bands.

As genius as Rush are I've always found their odd time usage to be too rigid and blocky. Odd times are best smoothed out so you don't actually know they are happening - something just sounds cool. UFO is just not on my planet so my vote is for Rush.
