The stage is set for an epic battle between the final four Crue, Scorps, Dio, and Leppard! What a line-up!

Coin flips led to Dio Vs. Scorpions first. I know how some of you are going to feel SO very torn on these decisions.
A lot of great many head bangin' memories from all of the bands. Music ISN'T a contest, but c'mon brothers....
this is just for fun.

Let's just play this out, argue your case, post vids, pix, memories, factoids, mug shots, whatever!

Dio - with a post-apocalyptic view of Hell video, almost like The Matrix, before The Matrix

The Scorpions, just livin' that Rock Star life as best they can...

Both bands with a pretty deep history and plenty of cred.
Boil it all down, in my opinion it amounts to scary rock vs sexy rock.
Which do you prefer?

Going with the Scorpions over Dio.

I'm going to get very literal and treat this is a "Battle of the Bands". So, I'm going to look at this as a matchup between the band, "Dio" versus the Scorpions.

Yes, Dio did create the very popular Holy Diver. But, overall, I consider the Scorpions and their body of work to excel over that of Dio.

While much is made of Ronnie James Dio's voice, which was indeed very good, vocalist Klaus Meine of the Scorpions is no slouch, either. I wouldn't say his voice is necessarily superior to RJD, but overall I think Scorpions have the edge.

Tough one for sure, but I have always had a soft spot for the Scorps. We used to draw Scorpions on our Pee Chees when were supposed to be doing school work. My first big concert was the Scorpions and Iron maiden. And no band has ever been better live than them. Dio is an icon and had some Great tunes and been in incredible bands but based soley the work of DIO solo, ( might be different if it was his collective work with Rainbow and Sabbath too) but nod goes to the Scorpions.

I was dreading this vote.
I am a HUGE RDJ fanboy. But this is about the band as a whole.
I’m also a big Scorpions fan.

Dio’s voice is arguably one of the best in Metal. He could deliver so much power with his vocals. The song lyrics had so much imagery. The band’s music is iconic. To this day I can’t get enough of it.

Scorpions are on equal ground here with the points above and again I can’t get enough of it. Klaus Meine can also belt it out. His voice unmistakable. The band’s music itself oozes hard Rock n Roll.

I can’t leave this to a flip of a coin. Both these bands deserve more than luck’s whim. They both deserve careful consideration.

I listened to both these bands this weekend and it came down to one iconic guitar tone. One iconic guitar riff. The opening riff of Rock You Like a Hurricane. By narrow split decision, and my heart breaks going against the legend. My vote goes to The Scorpions.

On one hand you have a dude who's last name is literally "God" in Italian
He borrowed a superstitious folk gesture, the Italian sign called "malocchio," to ward off curses of the evil eye from his grandma, and made it become the universal gesture of frickin' metal.
His lyrics traded in ironic metaphor, twisted word puzzles. He sang with intense operatic power and control and always had killer bandmates. His stage presence was theatrical, as were the shows... dark escapist fantasy.

I can't say much about the Scorpions. Never was my jam really, but I guess I after more listening, they made heavy rock way less scary, far more sexy. Then, when metal was on life support, they bring out Winds of Change ... an epic historical battle hymn about the changing tides of communism vs capitalism just before the Soviet Union broke up. Were they partially responsible? Plus, Rudy's mustache.

Basically, dead even. But one of them had the balls to drag Yngwie's Rising Force along on tour as opener and it was absolutely glorious as a package deal. I vote Dio.

Alas, we have come to the end of the line for the late great Ronnie James Dio. The fact is, the name on this list is DIO and thus his solo act. Had it been RJD as a whole? Id hand it to him. But be that as it may, Scorpions have a far superior performance record than DIO as the group and they deserve this win

I love Ronnie, but I think his solo efforts were less notable than when he was with Rainbow or Black Sabbath. No one would have been able to sing "Kill The King", "Heaven or Hell" or "neon Nights" the way Ronnie did.

But with a catalogue that is going on forty plus years old and how big of monsters every line up Scorpions have had. Whether with Michael Schenker, Uli Roth, or Matthias Jabs as their lead guitarist, they've put out great music consistently for years.

Had to go with Scorpions.
