Sorry to quote you twice @Don O ...after I replied, during my lunch break, I realized that we had spoken about drum mic’ing in another thread. This song was recorded with 8 tracks(would have been 10 if there were backing vocals). The drums were 4 tracks; kick-Audix D6, snare-top only-Audio Technica drum pack snare/tom mic, overheads- matched pair AKG C430 mini SDC mic’s on a short stereo bar, in an X/Y pattern, boomed from the front of the kit, one aimed at the floor toms, the other aimed between the highest tom and hi-hats. The overhead position was chosen to contain bleed from the rest of the band as much as possible.
