People talk about locking tuners and all that....locking nuts...I seldom play my 1987 Squire, unless teaching the kids. Quinten likes to divebomb the Squire until the strings plop down on the magnets, and that guitar is never out of tune, so I never saw a need for them...Since 1988, I've used (5) springs on the bar and have it against the body, so it's dive only...

It's trickier if you have a full floating setup, like I use on my Strat, than if you deck your trem. With me, I had an immediate improvement in tuning stability when I installed locking tuners. I can actually get away with some mild divebombs with my stock Strat trem and have pretty decent return to pitch. Before I installed the locking tuners, things weren't as stable for me.

I've installed a lot of locking tuners - its a common and popular upgrade on all kinds of guitars - but I get very mixed reviews on them....

Oh, I see.

Well, in that case, feel free to add my review to your list.

In the words of that wise old sage, Tony the Tiger...

"They're grrrrreat!!!"

I should also add that my old Squire had 'Fender' logo tuners on it from new and they have always felt to be very tight....
