Gibson Ripper - Wikipedia

I was first smitten with the Gibson RIPPER/GRABBER line when I saw THIS album cover

HEre is a Grabber in action circa 75

HEre are the Ripper/Grabber configuration differences.

I owned an Epiphone Ripper for a bit

I liked it --- BUT it just wasnt the same as the GIBBO---- one day I will score my real GIBSON RIPPER

All in all --- a SOLID hunk of LOW END tank machinery------

very--- much like the T-40 -- you can beat people to pulp with it----and not go out of tune.....

I think it would be cool if KISS did a throwback tour where they wore uniforms closer to their early outfits and played some of their earlier instruments, like that Ripper bass.

One of the bass players I used to jam with (he was in my band for a while) had one of each. But, being a true bass player, he played my bass (MIJ Jazz Bass) through my rig (Acoustic/Peavey), almost exclusively.

WHy wear out HIS gear if he can bum yours.........Its well known most bass players are Ferengi ;)

P:lol:

Indeed. Having my own rig was the equivalent of leaving food out for stray cats, or having your own car in high school. And having not just one, but two couches, ensured that I almost always had a complete rhythm section.

Semi Homeless Bass player: "Uh, dude. We can't practice today."

Me: "Why not?"

Semi Homeless Bass player: " The bass has a broken string and no one has changed it."

Drummer: "Yeah, and I only have one drum stick left and I need a new head on my snare."

Drummer: "And someone drank all the beer."

I'm not happy with you :-(
You outdid me yet again, a guitar with only 428 others out there. I have two from a 500 run and util now figured I was doing OK. :-)

BtW - does someone of You know how many instruments Gibson makes in recent limited runs? Such as the PT SG, the shortscale Thunderbird or the Les Paul Junior DC bass?

I tried sme googling.........they seem less OPEN with current numbers than they do the ones from 4 decades ago......

There was a (reissue) G3 at the local Gibson dealer back in 2013 or so, not sure what year it was made (it was new condition), satin black finish. I didn't buy it but I did look at it quite a few times

Here's a video of the reissue:
