I am thinking about building a kit bass.
First of all , not Warmoth . Noth I ng wrong with them. Just not waiting 6 months if I decided to build something.
I have the Squire Precision Bass.

You are correct. You have an original thread from a little while ago. Several comments made on that one.

Here's a link to a thread over on ETSG (everything SG)
where I describe what I did when I was given a "down the basement special"
...a 1997 Squier Precision Bass. This was a rescue. Use any ideas here
that make sense to you. I sunk about $450 into this "free" bass.
And she rewarded me with great tone and great service until I sold her for
a bit more than that.

First job was to get the neck straight. I figured if I could get the neck straight and the frets level, I'd
take it on as a project. I was cranking the truss rod a little at a time, every day for a week or more
with the bass' neck on my lap and the body suspended out in mid air, to help bend the neck back.
It worked, and I took her to my favorite luthier and he completed the setup.

Once the neck was straight and the frets tight and in place, I replaced all the hardware with good
quality parts... Fender "vintage" P-bass pickups, a wiring kit from Stew Mac, Gotoh bridge,
Schaller tuners, Fender P-Bass nut...

I installed all black hardware (the tuners were next) because I figured the Bass had to be named "Raven."
I carved a Raven out of ebony headstock veneer and tacked it on where the "Squier" logo used to be.
All the stock parts were corroded/ rusty and I threw them all away including the neck plate which had the
serial number on it. I replaced all with black hardware, so this instrument has no serial number, it's a
"Ghost bass..." *grins

And here she is onstage some years ago... I sold this instrument in 2019 due to a
medical crisis not my own. I got good money for her, and am sure she is giving good
service to this day.
