Bass as lead guitar

I liked that Kerry. Good job. When I read the title and before I listened…. My initial thought was John Entwhistle. That guy could play the bass line, rhythm and lead….. all at the same time. Dang, he died too soon.

That's cool! The only time I ever tried that was a funny kinda 60s spy sounding thing many years ago and I ran a cheap bass through my silver Jubilee with lead channel! Did all tracks with bass. Yours is far more of a song and well done!

Very cool. Was it a long scale bass? I found it hard to play lead on a long scale bass. I was wondering if it would be easier with a short scale.

Sorry for the hijack, yours is a song and I just was noodling around.
Maybe I should have started a new thread.
Thankfully a really small short scale 3/4 size terrible little thing so easier. I now have a long scale Ibanez and man! What a stretch!

You got lots of snow this year?
Cheers

I participate in a weekly improv challenge at strat-talk.com. The backing track for last week was an acoustic track with no bass. I decided to try improvising a lead part on bass. The playing is pretty sloppy but I like the tone. I may try this, playing lead on bass, more often.

When I think of lead Bass I always think of Lemmy. This was not that, but this was a very cool melodic sounding number! Well done!

Kerry, it was said of Entwhistle, by Pete I believe I saw him say about John. He said that John could anticipate/ replicate what Pete was doing but not vise versa. He also perfectly meshes in time with Moon flawlessly.

Thing about Entwhisle. I’ve watched video of him playing. He used all 8 fingers and both thumbs….. I struggle with a flat pick in one hand and three fingers on the other. (Pinky finger for some reason doesn’t always do what I want it to do)
