Back in August of 2021, we were rehearsing in a little barn in the foothills. During breaks, I was singing "lips of an Angel" by Hinder and I suggested we try the song out. I grabbed an acoustic and played the basic melody and recorded the vocals in a single take.
The bass player had already packed up, so I played the bass line on the keyboard.
I grabbed my DoubleNeck, which we had on hand for our Hotel California rehearsal, and played a couple of tracks with the 12 strings side, including an overdriven section.
Then, I went back and added the background vocals.
There is actually supposed to be drums very early in the song, but the drums started when the drummer unexpectedly sat down and started playing.
It was the end of a 6 hour rehearsal workshop and my voice was shot. I couldn't stay on pitch, but I really liked this song, so I dug it out of an old folder.
We cleaned up some background noises, guys snapping cases shut, etc., and mixed the levels, but its gor mistakes in it, and parts where the timing was off, so its more like a time capsule really.
