Bargan Basement Pedals without Sounding Bargan Basement recommendations

Here is where I am going with this.
I have a small spare pedal board and I want to set it up with pedals that wont break the bank (Behranger, Joyo, Donner etc...). The reason for this is I dont want to lug my gear to my son's house to jam. I just want my stuff there already. All I want is to show up with my instrument of the day, plug into my rig and jam. (I go there because he has the drum kit).

Behranger look like a great deal at about $25-$35 per pedal and they seem to get good reviews.
Then again so do Joyo and Donner.
Anyone have experience with any of these products or something similar?

You might be pleasantly surprised with some Joyo and Behringer effects. These cheap Chinese clones have improved tremendously in the past 5-6 years and have garnered a large fan base and a lot of love from various Youtube gear channels.

I got a Joyo Ultimate Drive which is massively cloned from the Fulltone OCD. It is a great overdrive that also acts quite well as a distortion unit. Solid Steel Chassis, high and low clipping and true bypass. Brand new, $35 and $20 used. Really, what does anyone have to lose at that price?
They have A LOT of heavy duty built pedals.

Behringer are another great cheap clone series, although they tend to use plastic housings. That is not a negative though if you arent going on stage and battering them to death. But they might arguably be even better clones than the Joyos and most are under $30 brand new. Again, whats to lose just checking one out?

The big names are legends and im not selling any of them short, especially BOSS, Ibanez/Maxon, TC Electronics and Digitech. But while BOSS and TC are the most affordable of that bunch, some can still be pricey. But used can be good scores

I priced out used boss pedals vs donner vs joyo vs behringer.
I can get all 6 of my pedals from Behringer for around $170. Joyo is a little more money at around $240 Donner is about the same price as Joyo but Donner pedals are mostly minis and also get great reviews. Behringer are made of plastic, but that really dont concern me too much.
I shopped around for used pedals and the price, even though cheaper than new will at minimum double my expense and for what my needs are, I don’t need “the best” or more durable. It’s just a small pedal board with the basics used to jam with my son for fun.
Here is my take away from todays research.
1) at nearly half the cost of used major brand pedals, who cares if they break at some point., $25 gets me another one. I’ve spent more than that on strings and picks.
2) buying used boss pedals means buying from different sources. The others are one stop shopping. Easy and convenient. Yes, boss are built from the remains of WWII battleships, but honestly I’m not going to be beating on them anyway.
3) with the amount of good reviews these cheaper brands received, they will more than likely do the job. Unless somebody else knows otherwise.

As of right now, I have a 20w orange 1x8 cab and 20w Joyo rectifier clone in my cart. $270
I have the following by Behringer in my cart OD, Distortion, Reverb, Delay, Tuner, Phaser all for $170

So for under $500 I can have a small rig I can plug into and get me going quickly.

Yup
Was going to mention the Ultimate Drive.

Works with a broad range of amps, different levels etc...

I was really shocked with it. I didnt expect much for the price honestly lol but its largely a very clean overdrive if you dial down the gain in High mode but its distortion is actually quite great too. Not fizzy or too sharp. Is it a Tubescreamer, a Rat, SuperOverdrive or a Klon type? No lol but its a nice take on a Fulltone and about 1/6th of the price and can work beautifully

I had, at one time five of those pedals lol.

I was at a jobsite, property owner was former owner of a music store. Sold me a cardboard box of those clone pedals for $30! It had delays, chorus, and ultimate drives.

I wasn't a member here yet, but at the old place I used to hang at I just gave them all away, ha, ha.

There may be a guy or two around here that got dist. pedals, and a delay.;)

The solution is probably an all-in-one effects thing, like a Boss GT-1 for $213.
Some of those all in one units are pretty impressive, and it saves a lot of screwing around with cables and power supplies...just plug and play....and it's cheap.
