Bad Weather

The temps are going to be in the 40s tonight here in east Tennessee, but before sunrise the front sweeps thru and temps drop into the single digits for a high tomorrow only 8 degrees with gusty winds. Then it's going to stay cold (below 20 f) until monday. I haven't been in cold like this since I was in Germany '95. I'm not looking forward to this. F'king BRRR!

I'll still take this over Florida humidity tho, lol.
 
The rain started here an hour ago, to continue through night into tomorrow morning then the snow starts and calling for a deep freeze with blizzard conditions and high winds 100kms..

Major winter storm expected Friday and Saturday.

Travel will become hazardous.

Hazards:
Wind gusts up to 90 km/h creating widespread blowing snow which will reduce visibility to near zero at times.
Snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm by Saturday morning.
Wind chill values into the minus twenties.
Flash freeze producing icy and slippery surfaces.

Timing:
Strong winds and widespread blowing snow developing Friday morning and continuing into Saturday.
Snow developing Friday morning and tapering off to flurries Saturday morning.
Very cold wind chill values will develop on Friday and persist into the weekend.
Flash freeze possible Friday morning.

Discussion:
Precipitation is expected to begin as rain or snow this evening before transitioning to rain for many areas tonight. Temperatures are expected to plummet on Friday morning leading to a potential flash freeze. Rapidly falling temperatures will be accompanied by damaging winds, snow at times heavy, and widespread blowing snow. Total snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm is expected before the snow tapers off to flurries Saturday morning.

Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.
 
Yep. -50 windchill is deadly serious stuff No frickin' around.

Two years ago I was lead man at the service desk of an auto dealership during one of these. Foul words, tears, screaming, threats of violence, and that's just the mechanics in back.

Hey @Jethro Rocker why not put that new Paul out on the deck for an hour two then fetch it inside and set it in front of the space heater? I hear cool stuff might happen to vintage it up a little bit.

Might want to wear safety glasses tho

Supposed to be 61 for us. A lot better then last Christmas.

As is typical Midwest weather.... especially Northern Illinois. Today's the basement. Start stepping up the temps starting tomorrow. Starting next Wednesday, we get above freezing for both the highs and lows and by the weekend near 50F for the high for several days. All precip will be rain with a chance of thunder showers on Friday. Sure don't get bored with the weather here.

Our temp has a 5 but the first digit is a 2.
Is warming to 40 in the afternoon.
