Back on the horse

Bondo, I wouldn’t have thought to use that on a guitar body. Does it hold up well?
Holds up fine, unless it's too thick.
As long as you hide it with an opaque top coat, no one even knows its there.
I only use a smear and sand back most of it. But it does for a guitar body what it does for a car.
Fills & levels low spots.

Thanks everyone, it's good to do some stuff again.
The hand has healed as well as it's gonna get, so it's beginning to get more daily use.
Doesn't mind being banged around as much as it did. But there's some nerve damage in two fingers, and one won't bend, so they're kind of numb.
You get used to it, but they also don't feel it when you jam a screwdriver into them.
The bleeding is usually a dead give a way, though...:pound-hand:

I had a nice day today and that primer had been sitting for a week or so, so the whole body got a once over with 320 grit wet, and turned into this...

Looks like it was dipped into a tray of tiny rhinestones.
Hope the clear goes as well in a couple of weeks.

Peace

Very sparkly o_Oo_Oo_O
Thanks, success, so far.
Last one I did in the sparkle, cracked like a spider web after about six months.
Had to take a heat gun and a putty knife to it, now it's purple.
Did I have too much sparkle? Too much clear? Not enough cure time between coats?
All of the above?
So I'm just taking my time, and hoping for the best.

So here I am back to messing with this thing.
It was a huge slab of silver sparkle pointyness, but boring. It needed something.
A black edgeburst was so run of the mill common.
So I went with a translucent red. It lets all the sparkliness shine through.

And I've never seen another guitar with a red edge. So the deed was done...

The sides are all translucent red.

I need to bury this thing in clear now and level things off.

Did I do the right thing, or will it look like a circus clown riding a goat?

Well, I hate it...
Been looking at it, and it just keeps getting uglier to me.
It's the sparkle. It just looks dumb. It has to go.
Bling without purpose. Like lipstick on a pig.
