Are you meticulous with your gear

I have to say I am, from a very young age I was always one to look after my stuff. I think I get it from my Mother. I have always felt if I look after something it will look after me. I have paid good money for what I have so I wish to take care of my gear. Its good to have confidence in your equipment when you are out playing in the public. Certainly there are times something can and will go wrong. But I think the odds are better stacked for you if you maintain your gear. My gear gets its workouts doesn't sit around collecting dust, But when I have put some years on something and it still looks good, It just has a tendency to make me smile.

some yes........The few that I purchased new I am very caustios with --- like mY Gibson Les Paul Jr 100 model......others --- that are "player grade" warhorses....like my Peavey T-40 or Gibson G3 basses......I am not cautious much at all.... another "battle scar" among the many is not a worry---

and possibly why I tend to PLAY those more...........no "kid gloves" grip it and rip it!

I take care of my stuff but I also use it heavily.
Every guitar I have has been in a bar or outdoors.
Little dings and wear spots will find their way in.
but...
I will not play any kind of gig involving a beach.
Sand and salt air and my gear?
No thank you.

My daily driver gets dusted and spray waxed every morning. I have one of those dustbuster vacuums and I hit the mats once a day....I've always been like this.

My guitars get waxed...my 1997 Valvestate VS265 looks brand new, even after years of being lugged around...I keep my stuff pristine.

I've gigged with this since brand new in 1988 - in some of the nastiest bars in Central California. Never dropped - no dings - just finish wear-through in a few places...

I always said take care of your tools, gear, stuff, cars, equipment, etc. and it will take care of you.
my gear stays home, so I dont have the other concerns of travel, gigs, etc.
I keep my gear clean, but dont wax.
I put old sheets as dust covers over my amp stack, guitar rack, and pedal board/table when stowed.
You will see that to some degree in most of my pics.
And I am careful not to knock things around or left where marauding household pets or packs of visiting small children can teach me tales of woe.

I just started all my outdoor power equipment last weekend after winter storage.
A little Stabil in gas and a wipedown, dust off before putting away works wonders.
Most years I put a little oil down the spark plug hole and spin the motor over before reinstalling the spark plug.
thats a holdover from winterizing marine engines.

I take good care of my stuff, but I use it. It's going to show normal wear and tear and I don't get too weepy if something gets scratched or dinged.

When I was gigging my gear looked...rough. I tried not to abuse anything but the realities of chucking gear into vans and loading on and off stages takes its toll. Nowadays, no gigging so I can baby things a bit more but its all going to show signs of use and I don't let it bother me.

I take care of my stuff, yes. I'm always careful with my things. But I never get pissed if a guitar gets a scratch or ding because of regular use. That's just the nature of things. But I can never understand people who are careless with their equipment.

You can say Pete Townshend is meticulous with his guitars...meticulous in smashing them.

He certainly can afford it. I don't think he would do that to his prized vintage Fender Telecaster which he loves so much. He only destroys dud guitars IMHO.;)

Not the "afford it" part that makes it stupid to me. I can "afford" to do a lot of pointless, wasteful things (not destroy perfectly good guitars mind you), but I don't. Because it is pointless, wasteful and stupid. He looked like a fool doing it then as he does now, and like Robert said, it's not like he was some gunslinger player. TBH, I realize that stupid shtick of his really put me off The Who as a kid. Utter moron.
